When we're feeling stressed out, anxious or depressed, it can be hard to remember what it's like to feel 'normal'.
Life can feel a struggle at times and can leave us feeling isolated and alone. Perhaps you’re experiencing a loss of hope, or that there is nothing to look forward to?
When things keep going wrong, it can be hard to trust ourselves and we can begin to doubt our own experiences, not believing we know what’s best for us. As a counsellor I have a deep respect for the life story of my clients. I believe that with the right support you can get back to feeling like yourself again, living a meaningful and fulfilled life.
I am a BACP registered counsellor. I can work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression and life stage difficulties.
Alongside my private practice I have worked for Cruse Bereavement Support as a volunteer counsellor for a number of years.
I'm an integrative-humanistic counsellor and I work mainly from a humanistic and existential perspective. What does this mean? It means I won’t judge you and I won’t tell you what to do. During our sessions we can explore the reasons you have come to counselling and I will support you to find your own solutions and a way forward that feels right for you.
I have additional training in the Person-Centred Approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy and can work flexibly to explore with you what might feel most helpful.
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from Chichester University. I undertake regular ongoing training and supervision in line with the BACP Ethical Framework (2021) requirements.
Alongside my counselling practice and voluntary work I am studying for a Professional Doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling at Middlesex University. I am a student member of UPCA and UKCP and an Existential Psychotherapist in-training.
I have a particular interest in working with trauma, loss and bereavement. I am also interested in the difficulties faced while living with long-term illness and disability, chronic pain, and challenges in the workplace such as bullying and dealing with difficult organisational politics.
I offer a free no-obligation phone call so you can ask me any questions you might have before you commit to a session.
Personal counselling is priced at £50 per 50 minute session. A limited number of concessions are available for those on a low income and for counselling students in training.
